Multiple Faculty Positions

Department of Bio and Brain Engineering

The Department of Bio and Brain Engineering at KAIST (https://bioeng.kaist.ac.kr/) invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at all levels of experience and across various fields of bioengineering and brain/neural engineering.

The Department was founded in April of 2002 based on a generous donation by Moon Sul Chung and a commitment to provide engineering solutions for pressing questions in human health. Closely aligned with this commitment, we welcome scientists and engineers interested in addressing these unmet challenges in human health, expand the potential of engineering biosystems, and train next-generation bioengineering and brain/neural engineering. In particular, we are interested in candidates pioneering at the interface of biology and engineering such as bioinformatics, bioinstrumentation, biomaterials, biomechanics, biomedical imaging, brain-machine interface, brain intelligence, genome engineering, neuroengineering, synthetic biology, systems biology, and tissue/cell engineering. The BBE department is located in Chung Moon Sul Building (E16) and Yang Boon Soon Building (E16-1) with exceptional microfabrication, high-performance computing, and animal facilities for interdisciplinary and collaborative research.

A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline is required at the time of hire as well as a demonstration to conduct original research in biological engineering and establish an interdisciplinary research group.

Applications will be accepted via email (pkim@kaist.ac.kr) until September 30, 2022 and include (1) the designed application form which consists of a summary of key achievements, academic and research achievements, teaching statement, research statement, Resume(CV), and Consent to Collection and Use of Personal Information and (2) a copy of at most three publications. After initial review, applicants will be requested to submit three reference letters. For more information, please contact Professor Pilnam Kim (pkim@kaist.ac.kr).
